What is the best way to start Pilates in Tamworth?
If you’ve been curious about Pilates but feel unsure where to begin, mat Pilates is often the easiest and most effective place to start. While reformer Pilates has become incredibly popular, many Pilates teachers still recommend starting on the mat. Why? Because mat Pilates builds the foundations that make every other form of Pilates more effective.
Mat Pilates builds true core control. On a reformer, springs help guide the movement. On the mat, your deep core muscles — including your pelvic floor — do the work of stabilising your body.
It’s simpler to learn. Without moving parts or equipment, beginners can focus on learning the fundamentals of Pilates: breathing, posture, and controlled movement.
It’s the most researched form of Pilates. Most scientific research on Pilates has been conducted using mat-based exercises, with studies showing improvements in core strength, posture, and back pain.
It builds strength you can use in everyday life. Because mat Pilates relies entirely on your own body for support, the strength and control you develop translates naturally into daily movement.
For many people, starting on the mat makes learning Pilates feel simpler, more intuitive, and easier to stick with.
